Quote from Mysho :I am not very much concerned in this, but I'd like to see some independents with kinda different cars, not only BMW, Seat and Cruze. It's most likely to do with support or money overall, but there are a lot more cars available to play with. Volvo, Civic, new Civic, Accord, Audi, Ford, Integra, Lexus, Mercedes, VW, Toyota, Peugeot etc etc...

It's mostly a money thing. S2000s are hard and expensive to build. It's easier and probably less expensive to just buy a car build by an existing WTCC works team - mainly Seat, BMW or Chevy.

There have been more S2000 models build for national championships, though. Like in the BTCC, 888's Vauxhall Vectras, Team Dynamic's Honda Civics, AmD's VW Golf, or even a short lived BMW 120d. Also, in the STCC, there have been VW Sciroccos, Audi A4s, and more. None of those have ever competed in the WTCC sadly.

For the record, BTCC's current NGTC regulations, introduced in 2011, make it much easier for privateers to build their own cars, we have something like 10 different models right now. But unfortunately, since they have their very own specific ruleset, it's unlikely we will ever see those cars in a major championship outside the UK.

Quote from Eclipsed :And on ending note - guys, please stop that freaking restart voting after start! There always be someone who will suffer from some incident, there always will be someone unhappy about something, and if you join late (like last time 3 minutes after scheduled start while event was already suspended too long),that is only your fault... Thank you for understanding. (now I have to figure out,how to allow Airio the vote-start by traditional "Drivers - vote for start" command... :schwitz

Sorry, I was puzzled and angry that LFS decided to put me at the back for some reason.

I think that Airio would've cancelled the vote anyway...?

Quote from Eclipsed :Event rating and other statistics updated

What does the "Race time" column in "Other stats" stand for?

Quote from TFalke55 :too bad the Chinese seem to have decided to not sell the car to some private project. Or atleast the engine, as someone could have build it into the other two C30s, if they were sold.

It's a shame, that car definitely had potential.

Quote from TFalke55 :Not sure if it will be the STCC one they just bought or the independently buildt other C200 which raced in ADAC Procar. They actually bought both of them for 2013 Btw, one can apply to drive one, as no driver has been nominated yet.

Always cool to see some (slightly) exotic machinery...

Speaking of which, I really wish someone was still running Polestar's Volvos. Whatever happened to those cars.

Quote from TFalke55 :Btw: It could be, that at Salzburgring we could see a Mercedes C200. Vuik Motorsports is entering two of them in ADAC Procar. Vuik says his dream is to race in WTCC. He is actually a Mercedes dealer and dreams of developing a Mercedes A class to the current WTCC rules. Relatively unlikely, but if they find a package, why not

Is it the same S2000 C200 that made casual appearances in the STCC over the last few years, with fairly mixed results?

Sorry if it sounds a bit cold, but I wonder what will happen to the car? Damage doesn't look so bad. Will it get trashed, or will the team repair it(and possibly sell it), I wonder?

Quote from ChristijaNL :I'm probably the only person in the world who thinks u can not lay all the blame with Muller

You're not. This is Mandarin, and when someone gets Mandarin wrong, stuff's gonna happen...

Quote from TypeRacing :I'm really happy about Honda's return in such a style. It really gives a good hope for the next year.

With the kind of pace Monteiro showed this week-end, Tarquini is the huge title favorite for next year. His only challengers would be RML, if they manage to run the Chevys privately with some top-class drivers.

Hated the Chevy domination, haters? Get ready for the Honda domination:haha:

Quote from TFalke55 :EDIT 3: Shame that there is no broadcast of the Formula 3 race.

It was broadcasted, as usual... Just very few broadcasters in Europe. Mostly Viasat Motors in Sweden, two other channels in Spain, and I think that's pretty much it.

Quote from TFalke55 :can someone take Oriola's driver license away again?

Really Thilo? The list of the people who missed their braking point at Lisboa over the years would be longer than this thread. And they include much older, wiser, more experienced and talented drivers than Pepe Oriola.

I think that for a mere teenager, Pepe has been a class act over the last 2 years. Not sure if he was on anyone's paper as a serious Yokohama trophy contender at the beginning of this season.

I was quite frustrated I had to start from the back at first, but at least making my way to 4th was fun. This is a really nice combo.

If anyone's wondering, Kevin finished 13th in the main race, a few seconds shy of a top 10. There was surprisingly little carnage up front(for Macau standards), and this made it hard for any kind of significant progress.

Da Costa won quite easily, BTW. This guy is one to watch for the future.

Also, a quick mention to Alex Lynn, first Macau rookie pole sitter since Kamui Kobayashi in 2006.

Quote from TFalke55 :Well and the touring car driver from Hongkong... I'm most curious about if it was a Chevrolet Cruze to FIA specifications, because that would have to be a warning signal. On the other hand we don't know how the accident happened. There might have been additional factors leading to the fatality.

I'm pretty sure it is. It was a S2000, I guess probably an ex-WTCC car.

The accident happened at Mandarin, the fastest corner of the track, a very dangerous and unforgiving one. Apparently the driver misjudged the apex, clipped the armco on the inside, then bounced back in the concrete wall on the outside.

Qualification race: Apparently Kevin stalled at the start of the formation lap, and had to start from the pitlane. With no Safety Car and almost no attrition, any significant ground was always going to be hard to make after that. 21st in the end.

On a brighter note, he his personal best was a 2.14.x despite the heavy traffic. Only the top half were lapping 2.14s. I predict a top 10 is very possible for him in the main race, if he keeps it out of trouble. Main race is always more eventful than qualification race, many drivers tend to go a bit crazy and desperate at that point, and that's when you have the crashes and the Safety Cars.

Up front, the top 3 at Lisboa on lap 1 was Da Costa-Rosenqvist-Lynn, and it never changed since then. I belive Rosenqvist might have had something for Da Costa, but no point in trying something risky for the qualification race. Sainz Jr finished 4th. 5th and fastest lap go to Juncadella, I think he will be one to watch tomorrow, not only because he was fast today, but also because he already won from 6th last year, so he can do something similar again, if things go his way.

Quote from Nilex :A little heads-up: since it's XFG and people love it (no exceptions, else they be lieing) there will be near full server and i don't think we can all 'fit' on this small track's starting grid

There's still the opportunity of running this track as an open config, using the SO1/4/5Y grid of 30(now 32?) players. Or just split the grid, half the grid on server A, half on B.

Quote from nemia123 :Hey i just got my s2 licence but it seems there's only demo servers up...? where is everyone?

There are very few S2 licensed drivers online on weekdays around 09:00 UTC(or anytime outside the 15:00-23:00ish window, for that matter).

Your best try would be to join the Aussie community, and find people to race with from your timezone: http://www.ozbee-racing.com/

Quote from Mysho :Colin is imho capable of top3, the thing is he won't do problems to factory Chevrolets because he is not 'allowed' to do so...

Why not?

They are have won everything they can win, and they are leaving the series in 2 rounds for god's sake, why would they ever bother with team orders anymore...? The only thing it would do is piss off the locals by taking away a potential win/podium position to the little guy running under the local sponsors' colours.

Even in more "conventional" conditions it's not rare to see independant squads taking on the parent works team, ie, with Andrew Jordan/Eurotec vs Honda Racing Team in the BTCC.

Allright, it's in their best interrest for the independant squads to "take it easy" on the works guys. But in this case the cars are presumably sold and the works guys are taking their toys and leaving the playground for good in a few weeks, even if for the sake of the argument we pretend that team orders are going to be given, what have WSR to win in respecting them anyway?

Apparently Gabriel has elected to compete in Formula Renault NEC(Northern European Championship) instead of Formula Renault UK.

In the end, 8th place overall, after missing 2 races out of 20. NEC usually has 30+ car grids, mind you.

Considering that a) this was Gabriel's first ever car racing season, and b) he had no team-mate for most of the races, this is an extremely impressive achievement.

It's great to see that Dean Stoneman has made a quick and full recovery.

He has tested a Formula Renault 3.5 car 12 months ago, and now he's having a successful career in boat racing.

This is huge when it comes to motorsports feeder series... Can't recall the last time I heard a mention of F3.5 or GP2 on mainstream media.
